Signs of spring

Walking back to Wolsingham from Harperley on Saturday 23rd January we were pleased to see some signs of spring flowers on the river bank despite all the recent floods.

Northern lights

The Northern Lights were visible (just) from Wolsingham last night as a faint green glow to the north with a hint of magenta higher up. The image below is a composite of four 20 second camera exposures which shows them somewhat better.  The foreground is slightly blurred as the camera tracked the stars which of course moved in 80 seconds.
