Long Tailed Tits

There was a flock of six Long Tailed Tits on the garden bird feeder yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately they didn't stay long enough for a photograph.

Sunbathing kestrel

I went to Hawthorn Dene this afternoon looking for Roe Deer. Didn't see any but was rewarded by this kestrel sunning itself in the last of the afternoon sunlight.

Damp Hawthorn Dene

Back to Hawthorn Dene again this afternoon. Very wet underfoot with melting snow, run off from the trees and rain. No Roe Deer this time but I did see Goldcrest, Bullfinch and Great Spotted Woodpecker.

First winter snow

After several icy days we had the first snow of the winter this morning. I went for a walk in Hawthorn Dene p.m. by which time it was melting and everywhere was very soggy and slushy. There were two Roe Deer hinds in the bottom of the wood.
