Frost on the railway path

Went walking on the local railway path this morning. It was frosty and sunny, a beautiful morning. The horses in the fields looked very chilly. All the plants were coated in ice crystals. I saw a siskin in the bushes and a very cold looking kestrel.

Hawthorn Dene again

Went back to the Dene this morning. Saw five Roe hinds this time. The movie shows a tiny clip I managed to record before they saw me. Blink and you'll miss it!

I also saw lots of Great Tits, Blue Tits and Long Tailed Tits, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Red Admiral butterfly.

Hawthorn Dene

First visit to the Dene for a while.
I walked down through the bottom of the wood and back via Jenny's seat. I saw three roe deer hinds in the bottom of the wood.
There were some droppings on and near the path. The one in the path in the open I think is fox. The other on the tree stump I would have said was badger by the contents but I don't know if they use tree stumps like this? It had a delicate musky smell.
There was a single cranesbill still in flower in the very lowest part of the wood near the stream.

Whitby and geese

Just returned from a short break in the camper van at Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. Very enjoyable but very cold!

A very large skein of geese flew over on Sun 2nd Nov. Probably taking advantage of the strong N.E. wind.
